Introducing Modes

Money Journey can now be played in two different modes: Essential and Detailed.
Exciting news! Money Journey can now be played in two different modes: Essential and Detailed. Essential only ever asks for your net worth to be kept up to date, which is the minimum requirement for Journey progression. Detailed mode asks for your income and expenses as well, which enables a much deeper insight into your personal finances, since the savings from income are a big contributor to net worth growth, at least for many people, myself included.
Why two modes? Nowadays I am so used to logging all my transactions that I haven't thought about it for years, I just do it out of habit. But when I go back to the early days when I started paying attention to my personal finances, it all started with building a table that had all my assets and debts in it, and nothing else. I did that for roughly two years before I expanded the spreadsheet to cover income and expense logging. So it's a very natural progression. Start with assets and debts, and then when you get used to it, expand to income and expenses to get the full picture. Money Journey has the structure ready and waiting for this step.
I wanted the mode selection to be fully based on personal preference, so there are no blockers or penalties if you choose Essential – the Journey just stops asking for income and expense. You can change the mode at any time in Settings, so you can also test which feels better to you.
